World Cup Grand Finale: PM Modi to Grace Ahmedabad Stadium, Pritam to Enchant Audience
In an eagerly awaited spectacle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the Cricket World Cup final at the stadium named in his honor in Ahmedabad, according to a statement from the office of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The highly anticipated showdown between India and Australia is scheduled for November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The event promises a day of excitement, featuring a ten-minute air show before the match by the Surya Kiran aerobatic team from the Indian Air Force and a special mid-innings performance by renowned composer Pritam.
Adding to the distinguished guest list, Deputy Prime Minister of Australia Richard Marles will join Prime Minister Modi in witnessing the gripping final match, as confirmed by the office of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
The final’s ceremony lineup includes a spectacular air show by nine aircraft from the Indian Air Force, led by Flight Commander and Deputy Team Leader Wing Commander Sidesh Kartik. Taking off from Ahmedabad Airport, the aircraft will treat the audience to a vertical air show above the Narendra Modi Stadium. A fly-past will also be staged as the national anthem concludes.
Despite a request to showcase the Indian tricolor in the aircraft’s trail, the International Cricket Council (ICC) declined the proposal.
During halftime, a special tribute will be paid to the captains of all the teams that have secured victory in previous World Cups, a gesture orchestrated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This esteemed group will include cricket legends Kapil Dev and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who led the Indian team to triumph in 1983 and 2011, respectively.
The halftime entertainment promises to be a visual and auditory delight, with music composer Pritam taking the stage alongside more than 500 dancers, all set to perform on customized floats.
In preparation for the grand event, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted a thorough review of security, cleanliness, and traffic management arrangements. A high-level meeting held on Friday ensured that everything is in place for a seamless and unforgettable World Cup final experience in Ahmedabad.
